Non-Chinese speaking (NCS) children’s early start in learning the Chinese language will facilitate their adaptation to mainstream curriculum and integration into the local community.
Our school has rolled out a series of support measures for Non-Chinese speaking children in Kindergarten.
Most of the teachers have successfully completed the course of Teaching Chinese to Multicultural Learners offered by The Education University of Hong Kong.
Taking care of the developmental needs of NCS students (cultural practices)
To improve the social development of NCS students
Assist NCS students to integrate into school life (special food sharing, festival activities)
The school website will provide parents of NCS children with the admission application forms and related information in both Chinese and English.
The school circulars have been translated into English languages for NCS parents.
If interviews are arranged for NCS children, Kindergarten should arrange interpretation and/or translation service for applicants where necessary or allow parents to be accompanied by a Chinese speaking relative/friend during the interview so as to facilitate communication.
The school will refer to the educational services provided by the Education Bureau for non-Chinese speaking children to help children integrate into the school. Details are as follows:
